Rising

Up from bloody earth and bitter stone,

surfacing amongst graceless waters.

Unhindered in ascent by

drooping brush and brittle bark

long untouched by spring’s renewing brush.

Past umbra walls that claw the heavens,

above the howls of the princes of night,

surpassing mountain’s prideful pinnacle, where

as were a rent in the fabric of a

dark world, blazes fire and glory

that rises higher still to fill all.
